    Falmouth Birding

That guy has been present for some years now, and it's getting "worse", with the "apparent tumour" increasing in size progressively. I'm no longer among the Falmouth birding scene (since last Nov) but it's great to follow this thread to have a look at what I'd see if I were there :) Cheers to all

Went quickly today to Swanpool before sunset. The only bird worth reporting was a Kingfisher. Tufted Ducks seem to be building up.

    Falmouth Birding

Yesterday, at around 11:30 a Red Kite was flying low over Melvill Road, being mobbed by gulls and corvids. No camera at hand (or binoculars!) unfortunately...

This is an amazing shot! Wow! Where exactly is Little Pendennis BTW? Is it the small fortress?

I guess it's late enough for these sandpipers to be wintering birds, but we'll get that answer as the winter progresses I guess. It's certainly late enough for birds being at their winter quarters even in Portugal. It's a shame I wasn't able to be out during the best part of Autumn migration...

Not sure what to think of the buntings... Both seem to differ in a few subtle ways, such as the shape of the ear coverts patch, or the patch on the breast sides. However, given the extreme similarity on everything else, my bet would be that they're the same bird (and perhaps I'm plain wrong...)...

    Falmouth Birding

Definitely a frustrating bird. Only saw it on the day I found it, despite going there pretty much daily afterwards, and despite other people seeing it on the next 2 weeks. Ilya saw it twice... I live 5 minutes walking from Swanpool which makes it even more annoying... On another subject, has...

Errm... why alleged? It was a Dusky ;) Out at Pendennis late afternoon, with nothing really to remark: 1 ad Med Gull, 5 Rock Pipits, 7 Oystercatchers, 1 Ringed Plover (at Gylly) and very far Gannets, besides other usual stuff... Cheers... (alleged?)

    Falmouth Birding

Hi there. Sorry I haven't posted here more often before, but I've been around Falmouth (on and off) during the last 3 years. The areas where I most go out birding (within walking distance from my place) are Pendennis and Swanpool/Swanvale areas. Some nice birds turn up every now and then, and so...

    Falmouth Birding

Went for a quick visit to Pendennis Point this early evening. Nothing spectacular, but always a pleasant place to visit. In half an hour, 20:00-20:30: - 50+ Gannets - 50+ Manx Shearwaters (small flocks, all flying west) - 2 Auk sp., very distant (one was likely a Guillemot) - 1 distant Fulmar -...

Hi all, The clutch is now reduced to 4 cygnets... Not much more to highlight from an early evening visit to Swanpool: female Tufted, 2 (+) Reed Warblers singing and G-Spotted Wpecker... Cheers
