Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Just had an amazing sighting (for me) from sitting here at my computer desk - White-crowned sparrow landed on the lawn and I grabbed my 8x42 EDG and had a great look. It's a lifer for me (still a novice birder). They don't live here, it was likely a migrant heading north. Sorry...no pics...I...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

A Great Blue Heron landed in the river next to the beer garden yesterday (the brewery is located in an 1800's brick mill building). I retrieved my "share" binoculars from the car - Nikon 7x35E porros. The hinge tension was set pretty loose when they were re-greased, a little too loose for my...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

that's pretty funny - same here. My climbing harness is used for home repair projects. My sailing lines are used to tie off dogs and to make handles for bags. Climbing ropes are great in the garden and fixing things to the roof of the car

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Glad to see the Nikon's resting on a nice soft backpack instead of the ground this time! :):)

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

I agree with this so much!!! This is what I've learned after a yearlong bino-binge....the binos I bought where the eyecups are in the right place are my favorite ones. All of them were good optically, but some of them torment me continually with eye placement....will not name names but you...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

couldn't help but think it's a lot more fun to be up there with binoculars versus a bow & arrow or vat of boiling oil or whatnot :):)

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

Ran out last night after sunset to look at the grouping of Venus, Mars, the cresent Moon, and Mercury. It had to be 30 minutes after sunset, so I ran out quickly and grabbed my 8x42 SF's. (I think was a "tell" on my go-to bino btw). There was haze and smoke from the boreal forests burning up...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

You could get a re-grease to loosen up that focuser. I just sent an 8x56 Dialyt for service with Zeiss and the focuser came back silky-smooth and very easy to turn. I sent them in because it had stiffened up, it was a real chore to turn the focus wheel. It's a 1990 model and the OEM grease...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

They are definitely one my favorite birds. So beautiful and unique. Once you learn the distinctive high-pitched trilling sound they're easy to ID by ear. My old townhouse apartment had a large Shadbush right next to the porch and that's how I came to know the Cedar Waxwings. I'd see and hear...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

what a beautiful spot! River looks very clean. The dog's like "what are you doing on shore, get in here, the water's great!" Took my 2 dogs for a swim in a local river yesterday as well. Had my 7x35 Nikon E's with me, I managed to throw a few balls while alternating bird watching - there...

Which binocular(s) did you use today?

It's still early here (Massachusetts) but I just enjoyed watching the Ruby-throated hummingbirds on my deck during breakfast & tea this morning. Using the new 7x42 EDG was wonderful. I knew it would be - this is one of the reasons I got them - there is no need for 8x when the bird is 10-12...
