Is Slimbridge wetlands the Mecca of bird spotting in the Uk?😄

Haha sorry John. I’ll mind my P’s and Qs in future! Was at Attenborough again today. Sadly I forgot my pocket guide so unable to identify what were 2 new sights for me. Pretty sure it was greenfinch and chaffinch though! Sadly still no kingfisher! Will keep trying😊

I would usually wholeheartedly agree with you! However I’m lucky enough to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern so can (and would choose to) visit on a random weekday in mid winter when most people are exchanging breaths for earth credits at their desk! So can avoid the weekend swell!

Yeah the Islands of Scotland are 100% on my to do list! As a holiday overall not simply a birding destination. Any particular time of year you would recommend? I’ve always found it quite tricky to find anywhere on the internet that rents cottages for a reasonable price in the peak seasons!

Because it looks like it to me! I was on their website earlier and it’s got me giddy with excitement! The hides look first class! Hire a canoe, massive reserves with up to 30k wildfowl in winter! Got to be said though, feels a bit pricey at £18 when you consider it’s £3 a car for all day...
