Depends how hard you shake the bins Gunny but I guess you might say they should have a rigorously observed standard shaking procedure. Some folks never notice their Swaros rattle and its a good job because its not a fault its a characteristic. Not sure how much time bino brands spend checking...

EU law doesn't limit warranties to 10 years, but the stipulation that warranties must be supported by stocks of spare parts to the original build specification that cannot be substituted by parts of a later improved specification, means that it is too expensive for manufacturers to give...

Pics of GPO HD Bins Got some pics of the Passion HD bins. Quite a handsome classic design I think. On the second unit we can see the focuser has been pulled up to reveal the dioptre scale and also that a tripod adapter (not supplied) can be fitted via the threaded port on the end of the hinge...

There is a similar look about them isn't there but while the 42 and 45mm Mavens have magnesium bodies, the 30 and 56 mm models are polymer. Both the ED and HD GPOs of all sizes have magnesium bodies and also aluminium eyecup tubes. What material does Maven use for the eyecups? Had a quick look...

Got some pics of the ED models: The one with tan sides is (I think) 42mm and the ones with brown or black sides are 32mm. Lee

Indeed it is Bob. The opinion of many folks in the UK has probably been influenced by what happened some years ago when a gunman with 4 legally held handguns walked into a children's school in Dunblane, Scotland and killed 15 5-year old children and a teacher and left about another 15 or so...

Hej VB Never put invisible bins down on a rock before you go around the back for a 'comfort break'. You will never find them when you come back. The 50mm units look interesting don't they? An 8.5 and a 12.5 plus a classic 50. No indication of where they are made though. Lee

According to information from our good friend Pete Gamby on this very forum: "An order for just 500 would get you a new rubber armour. 5000 gets you a new optical system and an all expenses paid invitation to the factory!" We would need 5,000 members to 'get whatever we want'. Could we do it...

If I had to guess I would say that the ED's might be made in China and the HDs in Japan, looking at the prices, although even the EDs have magnesium bodies and aluminium eyecup tubes so maybe both ranges are made in Japan. Lee
