    And then there is the Kowa 8x22 as well ;) 130m/1000m. Not cheap either. Another option would be one of the light weight but wide angled 8x30 from Nikon (Monarch 7) Opticron (Traveller BGA ED), Kite (lynx) or whoever also offers them. Less expensive as the top notch compacts, still quite small...
