    Only thing deterring me at the moment is work (getting the time off and being able to save the money in time) and the possibility of bumping into bears on those mountain walks!

    Thanks wolfbirder - that's cheap cf. B&B in England! Bansko is between Perin Mountains and the Rhodopes - agree that Black Sea Coast is the place to be for Autumn mig. as it's on the Via Pontica but area looks dearer and car looks needed, whereas mountain/lake walks are accessible via foot from...

    I've been looking at the possibility of Bansko - late summer - can you convert 60BGN for me!! (Don't know whether there would be any guides in the area but could probably manage without in this location)

    Excellent bird-packed few days and sounds like it was well worth booking your guide, considering you had so little time for birding! Thanks for the report, Wolfbirder - for those of us who don't drive, it's always useful to 'store up' names of guides for possible trips in the future.
