Was on my Patch today. Very quiet, unlike the previous two visits. I mentioned Cuckoo, but we didn't hear one. A couple of sightings of a single House Martin, so don't know if there was one seen twice or.... Although it was sunny, still rather cold up there, well at least the wind was cold LOL

I didn't realise there were young offenders there. They would probably have been transferred to Polmont, with the adults going to Castle Huntly. Friarton Prison in Perth was also closed around that time I think. I worked at Perth Prison until 2004 so a bit out of things in that way since then.

Hi MJ.... no I rarely use Google Maps, they don't really put anything useful on them. Here's a link showing Glenley on StreetMap. That's an Ordnance Survey map. Use the bars on the right to change the view. If you move the map around, you'll see it's near Noranside; think the prison closed...

Ken and I went along to the Glen Ogil area on Sunday - not been there for about 20 years! Red Kite between Memus and Noranside, along with loads of Jackdaws, assorted gulls - Common Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Black-headed Gull. Turned up to Afflochie then up and over the hill... loads...

Sadly not.... I can't drive for quite a few weeks. It takes ages for the stitches to dissolve and until they're no more of an issue, I risk tearing them!! Grrr... they used clips last time and I was able to drive after about 2 weeks.

Thank Scoz. Op went according to plan. May get home tomorrow but depends on Physio. As need to be able to cope with the stairs at home.

Frustratingly saw the beast from that side on Sunday... But he was way over the other side constantly diving, and when not seemed to be half submerged. Only able to see the bill more often than not!! And that not clearly. Yellow-bellied momentarily flashed through my mind! Eventually wrote it...

That run up Glen Esk will have done the pair of you a world of good!! I'm sure your wife will make a great recovery from her op and will soon be striding out again. Good luck.... make sure she does the exercises!!! ;)

WOW!! I've only really seen one... flying away from me in a wood. Though did get some in a Welsh forest one evening some years ago. Great pictures there Burnine - which glen were you in (or do you not really want to say)?

LOL you sound a bit like me... age doesn't come itself, as people keep telling me. In my dreams I can walk for miles like I used to.

Yeah.... Glen Moy and Glen Prosen are my favourites, but I can't do much now other than sit in the car sadly. When Stonefaction and Paul can get together again, they sometimes wander up the glens.

Hi burnie.... it was intended to cover all of the area, it just depends where people go and report from. There's a thread for Kinnordy but by the time I got back from Australia and sorted myself out we were into lockdown so there were no reports from there last year. Hopefully they'll be able...
