    Advice on Habicht please.

"The Habicht and the Pentax are worlds apart. Period." I agree, they are worlds apart. True. The Pentax has a 7.5 degree FOV and the Habicht 7x42 has a 6.5 degree FOV. The Habicht is like looking down a straw, and the Pentax FOV is much wider and more immersive. The Habicht focuser is so tight...

    Advice on Habicht please.

We both know the Swift Audubon 804 8.5x44 is the best porro on the market. I would never go back to a tunnel vision Habicht after having the 70 degree AFOV Swift with its incredible easy step in view and amazing stereopsis. The only good thing about the Habicht 7x42 is the high transmission...

    Advice on Habicht please.

If you want a good 7x42 for low light, try the Pentax ED 7x42 at $380. It has a way larger 7.5 degrees FOV than the narrow tunnel like 6.5 degrees FOV of the Habicht 7x42, it is very glare resistant, and it is just as light also. I have the Pentax ED 7x32 and it is excellent. Also, the Pentax...

I wonder how they loosened them up? Grease?

    Advice on Habicht please.

You will see more detail in daylight and low light with the Habicht 10x40, but it won't be as bright as the Habicht 7x42, but it will be pretty close. I would recommend the Nikon SE 8x32 over the E2 if you can find a good one. The SE has better build quality being better sealed, it is brighter...

    Advice on Habicht please.

You will see more detail with the 10x50 roof because of the higher magnification, but the Habicht 7x42 will still be brighter with the 6 mm EP and very high transmission.

    Advice on Habicht please.

When you say better, do you mean seeing detail or brighter in dim light? The Habicht 10x40 will be brighter, and you will see more detail in dim light than almost any 10x42 binocular because of its high transmission. An 8x42 is another story because it has a bigger 5 mm EP than a 10x40. Almost...

    Advice on Habicht please.

They have the 12x42 and 10x30 Sig Sauer Zulu 6 HDX here for a pretty low price and I think they can get the other ones in a few days. Ask them for a lower price. https://heartoftexasarmory.com/shop-all/optics/#/dfclassic/query=sig%20sauer%20zulu%206%20&query_name=match_and

    Advice on Habicht please.

All you really have to know is if you are over 60 years old the Habicht 7x42 will probably be the brightest binocular you can buy in daylight and low light, but if you are under 60 years old an 8x56 or 7x50 will be brighter than the Habicht 7x42 in low light but not in daylight. So if you want...

    Advice on Habicht please.

There are three things to consider when choosing the brightest binocular for yourself. Exit Pupil, size of your dilated pupils and transmission. If you are over 60 years old, chances are your pupils are only dilating to about 6 mm, so the brightest binocular for you would be one with a 6 mm EP...

My wife has NO joy in me getting a new binocular.

    Advice on Habicht please.

I always keep it undercover from my wife when I buy another pair of binoculars. I make sure I delete all the tracking notices from UPS and I try to catch the UPS delivery man before he rings the door bell and I then sneak them into the house undercover and hide them in the closet until my wife...

    Advice on Habicht please.

Do you mean the Tract Toric 10x42? I agree, they are an excellent value for the money. The 10x50 would no doubt be better but heavier. Interesting that yours show CA. Are they the newer UHD version with Schott glass?

    Advice on Habicht please.

I agree grasshopper. That is why I picked up a used Zeiss FL 8x42. It is one of the brightest 8x42 mm binoculars I have tried and one of the best for CA control. I am sensitive to CA. I haven't tried the Razor UHD 8x42, but I have tried the Razor UHD 10x50, and it was one of the brightest...

    Advice on Habicht please.

The Habicht 7x42 will be the brightest of the two, and it will have the easiest eye placement because of the bigger EP, it will have better DOF which is important with the Habicht because the focuser is quite tight and 7x will be easier to hold steady, but the AFOV is very narrow compared to the...
