Just lift up the rubber armor on the right side when you have the binocular adjusted to its minimum IPD and you'll see the rubber armor edge catches a little bit on the chassis as it closes from this position.     Thisdude, I checked my Meostar 7's and found that under the "soft" part of the armor there is nothing to glue the rubber to. This must be why it's a little spongy there. I lifted it up and did see the mechanism or focusing rods. I don't think it's a defect... just a result of the design...
