The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

As past and recent events in the US demonstrate clearly 😢

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Yes, my point exactly. No girl ever came to me because I have NL Pure around the neck saying "nice binoculars". But I used to drive a Ferrari many years ago and it was another story

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

It would be strange because nobody notices binoculars AFAIK.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Because I have no problem with the panning, I prefer the NL Pure 8x42 to the SFL 8x40 but this is a close call. I'm going to Vietnam for 2 weeks to see my son and I think my combo will be SFL 8x40 and Curio 7x21 because of the weight & size for instance.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

I own both and think the opposite. Well, to be fair the SF as a wider field and slightly less CA but I prefer everything else about the SFL 8x40: the view, comfort, ergonomics and 40mm instead of 32mm in the same size.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Depends on what you want. I've been pretty happy with them before using the NL 8x42 more even though they are bigger and heavier. But ergonomics and the immersive view make up for it.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

This is what I plan to do as I have both. The SFL 40 is more comfortable. However when I want to travel light or pack a lot of cameras/lenses but still have something better than the Curio, I'll take the SFL 8x30.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

Indeed. But they are not that far so one can choose to go lighter and smaller with the SFL 8x30 or have a bigger diameter with the 8x40 without too much weight gain. Or keep the excellent 7x35 of course.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

According to B&H: SFL 8x30: 459g Leica 7x35: 590g SFL 8x40: 641g So the 7x35 are much closer to the 8x40. Length is: SFL 8x30: 11.9cm Leica 7x35: 13.2cm SFL 8x40: 14.5cm So the 7x35 are exactly in the middle.

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

One could argue that the 7x35 are somewhere in-between the SFL 8x30 and 8x40 when it comes to size, weight, etc. SFL selling points are that they are small but modern binoculars: fast focus, waterproof, big eye-relief, good FOV for a x8 (same as the 7x35). One can prefer the Leica of course as...

The Zeiss SFL 8x30 compared with select current 8x30/8x32 roof binoculars

I'm using both, ring & first. The ones from my left hand are above them and I move them up slightly when focusing instinctively.
