Frank, Thanks anyway, the light isn't always conducive to spotting these variations. As you say I might be more sensitive to effective resolution differences than some but I'm most certainly not alone in finding the Swarovski CL 8x30 for example very disappointing. There have been a lot of...

Frank, Thanks for taking the to report the comparisons. Very useful! You didn't mention sharpness/effective resolution differences Did you see any? Given that list I'd have thought there might have been quite a range of performance, though I suppose it's not easy to know how representative any...

That's fine Frank, thanks. I understand it would be unusual for Kamakura to allow two identical binoculars to compete in the same geographic area and wondered if that might be a more obvious difference. Of course there may be other more subtle differences, or maybe the country of origin counts...

Frank, An excellent review as always. I realise you don't have an M7 to hand, but do you have an opinion if there are differences in field curvature or pincushion from what you recall? Thanks, David

Gijs, I think it's better that I respond by PM. David

Sorry Bob it's absolutely clear that if you checkout the full binocular range from companies like Vortex, Bushnell, Nikon and Opticron, resolution is very obviously a price differentiator. From what I can see Swarovski, Zeiss and Leica most certainly do as well. I'm surprised you would suggest...

Brock, I think Henry was among the first to make such a comment but there are no shortage of those that agree. It's complete speculation of course but I can see some logic in seeking to avoid the CL competing with and undermining the ELSV sales. If they pitched it at the lowest DIN ISO...

CG, I'm not suggesting means anything much in practice, but Gijs' transmission plot for the Swarovski CL peaks at 93% or a just below the peak figure for the B3. Something I'd rate as far more important is sharpness or effective resolution. Several people on the forum and more elsewhere have...

The transmission levels do seem surprising. Glass does absorb light and the lenses will be thinner and the prisms smaller on an x30 compared to an x42, so that could improve transmission. Over 4% improvement seems unlikely if the same glass was used thoughout. David
