Eagle Optics has Kahles Binoculars (1 Viewer)

Eagle Optics is listing Kahles binoculars. There are only 3 models and they are not in stock yet. They are not inexpensive. The 8 x 32 looks interesting. Long eye relief. Wide FOV except for the 8 x 42.

I have heard that they are back with Swarovski but I don't know if that has been confirmed. If so, they might be considered as competition for Leica's new Trinovid line, Zeiss's Conquests and Nikon's Premiums. They are in that price range.

Bob:

These may be worth a look. I had a pair of the 8x42 Kahles binoculars
several years ago. They have a very high quality build, like the Swarovski,
and I do not know if the new model now listed is the same or upgraded.

One thing the FOV is a bit narrow for a high end 8X42 at 7 Deg.
I am thinking silver prism coatings and some of the newer optics with more modern coatings will be brighter, etc.

The big Kahles announcement is mainly for their new riflescopes, quality made, all in the high mid range to the top end.

I do know, right now all service on their optics go to the Swaro. service
center.

Thanks a lot for the update Jerry and Bob. Any additional comments from Kahles users regarding their optical performance and usability would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Bob: looking forward to seeing what Kahles has to offer, now that I see they have an 8x32. From what I see of the older models (at least what looks like older models on the net) the field of view advertised is only 315 feet at 1000 yards. I hope that this is improved on the models to come.

Anyway, I like the design at least visually...

and after I posted, I saw that the 20012 8x32 model is supposed to have 435 feet fov at 1000 yards. That's actually pretty impressive (at least to me).

John and Jerry,

A couple of years ago I purchased a Kahles 8 x 32 at the Hawk Mountain Sanctuary store. They had all three versions in stock and they looked exactly like the ones shown in the Eagle Optics ad. I tried out all three at my leisure looking out the windows at the birds and the bird feeders.

It states on the focus knob that they are made in Austria.

The FOV listed on the 8 x 32 is 399' @ 1000 yards and as I recall the FOVs of the 8 x 42 and 10 x 42 were not as wide as Eagle Optics specifications for them. I think they were 335' and 315' respectively.

Mine had a registration slip for Swarovski but when I called Swarovski to register them I was told that GAMO was currently representing Kahles at that time. It did not come with a case but winged eye cups were included with the binoculars for use as an option.

They have, as Jerry states, very rugged, high quality construction. In fact mine reminds me of a miniature version of my Leica 7 x 42 Trinovid. They aren't as bright as my 8 x 30 SLC or my 8 x 32 Nikon LX L. The Nikon has better veiling glare control than both the SLC and the Kahles. The Kahles edges aren't quite as good as the SLC or the Nikon.

I have a feeling that my binocular is old stock from when Swarovski owned the firm. I got that impression when I bought them. I think that Hawk Mountain had them for a while. The price was good.

It will bear looking into to see if there have been improvements to the FOV and more.

Hello All! Yes Kahles is back in the US!

My husband and I run our company Khaybes, and we are working directly with Kahles Austria to bring the Kahles binocular line to the US. We are very excited as we are outdoorsman ourselves.

Please feel free to contact us:

Currently our website is under construction, but It will be up and running soon!

Currently, all repairs are being shipped to our location in Idaho, and we then send them to the Kahles facility in Austria. There is a turnaround time of 30-45 days in country. In time, we will have all of the equipment we need to handle all of our customer repairs directly herein the US at our facility.

Kahles is owned by Swarovski, however Kahles is an autonomous company that offers its own optical designs, Reticles, etc.

If I can be of any additional assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me via phone or email me at [email protected].
