Norfolk birding (9 Viewers)

Hi CB. I was lucky enough to be in the hide when it flew over Cley. For once we were in the right place at the right time. A birder from Suffolk (with quite frankly amazing ID skills) got photos of the rings at the Iron Road? He also thought it was a Polish bird that had been transported to the UK following some injuries, and then released. Is this consistent with your information?

Rich

Again I had to be told as I deserve my title, that the following appeared on RBA today - " green ring Z9404; presumed to be free-flying bird from group of White Storks ringed in Poland taken into care at Shorelands Wildlife Gardens, Langmere”

Despite far fewer gulls this evening on Simmond's Scrape, there were 3 Caspian Gulls (the juvenile and two new second-summers) and 12 Yellow-legged Gulls (six juveniles) by dusk. Other birds at Cley today included adult Curlew Sandpiper, several Green Sandps and Greenshanks, 2 Whimbrels, LRPlover and the usual geot'd female limosa Black-t Godwit. Also Hobby, Med Gull, several Spoonbills and a Bittern seen again today. Plus, of course, the aforementioned White Stork nearby at Salthouse this morning (it or another was in Norwich later, on a school playing field I'm told).

A Great White Egret at Cley this evening, and a Hobby hunting Swifts. But only half the number of lwhg compared to last night, with fewer interesting birds mixed in and no Caspians; just 15 Yellow-legged Gulls and one f-s Little Gull. Also the Dutch-flagged limosa Black-t Godwit, 10 Whimbrels and Barn Owl (& Otter earlier by E Bank)

Hesitate to intrude into the Paul and Richard show but am I alone in not knowing what a lwhg is. If the answer lies here; https://jagodibuja.wordpress.com/living-with-hipstergirl-and-gamergirl-english-version/ then I might be persuaded to pay an evening visit to Cley.
