Urgent Help On Andorra Needed !!! (1 Viewer)

Can anyone help me with information about birds and birding in Andorra. I have left it a little late because I am going on next Wednesday morning. I am staying in Soldeu and of course I can hazard a guess as to what are the likely mountain birds but if anyone knows of specific area etc. that would be great.
Thanks.
B :)

I havent made it as far east as Andorra, but my experience further west in the High Pyrenees is that is that the true mountain birds (Alpine Acc, Wallcreeper etc) are relatively easily found in summer if you can get high enough (2200m+). Be careful as afternoons often see mighty thunderstorms brewing up suddenly, so its often best to make an early start.....

Thanks DJ. Soldeu, where we are staying is at 1860m so we may not have to go too much higher. I am hoping for Lammergier, Griffon Vulture, ( I am no raptor expert so I am hoping I will not struggle with high, soaring dots ) and possibly Ptarmigan and Capercaillie. Anyone else with any help it would be gratly appreciated.

Think Caper will take some finding!...I've heard Ptarmigan once on a high Col (about 2600m). Griffons Vultures should be common, not sure about Lammer, they're locally common in little patches....but expect you'll bump into some. Apart from the true high mountain specialists (Acc, 'creeper, Snow Finch and Golden Eagle), the best pyrenean birding is in the valleys and canyons rather then the really high areas.....last year whilst treking part of the Pyrenees High Route I went for hours without seeing a single bird.....but when I did see one it would be a blinder!.

Have a good trip, and let us know how you got on!
