I'm still using the 8x32 HG L because of the fast focus which I like :king: and no problem with the ergonomic for me
I have spoken with Nikon Malaysia about 8x32 EDG for testing. Hope I can try it soon. For me the 8x42 EDG is still the best after my 8x32 SE. But I'm hoping for the 8x32 EDG will beat the 8x42 EDG for my needs 8-P
If I wanted to buy mid range binocular, I will mostly choose the Prostaff because of the ergonomic and also the color renditions. I used to have Monarch II and then tried the Monarch III for few hours. The dielectric coating gives a pleasant view of the III than the II.
But I will have another chance this coming 9th July to test it again before my talk about birding and digiscoping during the Sabah Forestry Open Day, they will officially launch the Prostaff series to the public hehehe.
Okay, you're selling the 8x32 LXL to finance an 8x32 EDG. Well, that makes sense, moving on up to the east side, you finally got a piece of the pie.

Boy, they are sure are taking their time sending you an 8x32 EDG to try. Seems like I remember you talking about this a year ago.
Will it be the original 8x32 EDG I or the new EDG II? Well, it doesn't matter since if the LXL's ergonomics work for you, the EDG II should be no problem. And if you have mechanical issues with the EDG I's focuser or diopter, Nikon will send you an EDG II. Then you'll be moving on up to the penthouse or at least a dee-lux apartment with a penthouse price.
I was planning to buy a Pentax 8x36 NV when Pentax had their rebates, but starting debating whether or not to try the Prostaff instead. Now I wish i had gone with the Pentax since I tried it and liked it (a birding bin in the hand is worth two on the 'Net). I don't like very many roofs, but I liked the NVs better than the uberoofs I tried.
Plus with the rebate, the Pentax would have cost only $120, about the price of a Schick Quattro shaver plus a six month's supply of blades. Unlike some Pentax 1-year warranty products, the NV comes with Pentax's Worry Free warranty. For buyers outside the US, that translates to: You buy 'em, we won't worry about 'em.
Have fun on Sabah Forestry Open Day!
