Seemingly the bird of the moment.. (1 Viewer)

Thanks Mike - not as good as the big 40's gonna be - promised myself that I'm off to PNG!! Maybe that'll make me forget for a bit...!

Hey all
Been busy painting designs for belly-bands for a specialist cake company lately which is paying bloody well and I even get to slip birds into the designs every now and again....
But I finally got off me bum and went along to see the Brown Shrike on Saturday so thought I'd post something to remember it by....

Very nice sketches and I really like the painted version. Looks just like one of our (US) shrikes except he is a nice warm brown instead of a cold gray!

your sketches are so beautiful, such subtle nuances to the lines and shading, and the watercolor added just makes it more so. Never get tired of seeing them.

Hey Ads,

Just found your thread and... gobsmacked, some absolute stunners in here, love the sketches, broadbills, pheasants.... all beautifully captured!

Your plates are equally stunning....

WOW , looking forward to seeing more!

You always capture the structure of the birds so well and alongside the character it makes for superb fieldwork.

Thanks everyone |:D|
Thought I'd post my sketches from the warbler twitch below...

Yep...it'd b*ggered off - arse!!!|=@|

Next time I go to Thailand I'll do a double-spreader Ed, promise!!
Here's some Carmines from Gambia last year instead - much prettier than a little green job...

I did look for it from Elmley but I didn't hold out much hope. I just looked out over the vast expanse of estuary and couldn't get needles and haystacks out of my mind! Sad thing is I go to Oare a fair bit. B*gger! B*gger! B*gger!

Some more 'oldies' to liven up these dull days with some good memories....and to cheer me up as I've just found out that the Gambia trip that Naturetrek are running and that I was due to lead doesn't have enough people going.....arse - didn't really want 12 days birding in the sun anyway :-C:-C

tawny frogmouth, amazing....have to look that one up. So sorry the trip did not work out, cause we would have seen a whole bunch of new work....:-C
