I'm in B.C. Canada and saw several 4 ft shiny black birds at the edge of a canyon with a River running way below. They were standing on a cliff looking at me. Their yellow beaks were curved and kinda long. Do you know what kind of bird this would be? Thanks

Welcome to Birdforum. The only thing that I can think of that comes close is turkey vultures, but you might be on the edge of their northern range there.

Turkey Vulture was my first guess as well but the yellow beak was throwing me but it could have been the way the sun was hitting it.

Does it look anything like this? Turkey Vulture

Cormorant seems plausible. I would suggested Double-crested Cormorant which are just a tad under 3 ft long.
