Half a dozen Adders enjoying the Sun this morning at East Mersea. No Common Lizards yet though.

Still no Common Lizard on the Wirral but the sun brought out Common Toad in ridiculous numbers. I was doing my WEBS count and there were Toads everywhere, including pairs, in amplexus, in puddles you could walk through in flipflops without getting your feet wet.

In a normal year, Green is active from early April, Wall from Mar. This isn't a normal year, mind.I'm probably off down Bournemouth way next weekend. Do green and wall lizards come out later as they're are used to sunnier climes? I intend to have a look for the rarer species as well.

The Wall lizards are out 12 months of the year Steve. You wont have any problems with them. I saw my first of the year on January 30th and I wasn't the first! The Greens don't seem to be out yet and there are few other reptiles about yet. In saying that it has warmed up and a bit of sun this weekend could bring them out.
Cheers Chris
If you hear any more please let me know. Hoping this warm weather has brought them out. Looks like it'll be sunny - although not that warm this weekend - so I'm still planning to give it a go.
Farnboro John, James H and I enjoyed pool frog (plus common frog & common toad), Alpine newt (plus the three native newts) and wall lizard today at an open day at a site in SE London. Fab.
