Hi Tina and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about. If they were large birds with very long tails (and basically looked black and white) they would almost certainly be magpies. Two things, maybe the light was a bit awkward making them look brown, or it could be that they are suffering from a form of leucism, which you can read more about here in our Opus Dictionary.
