hume's wheatear or eastern pied wheatear (1 Viewer)

i took this photo in a region where both hume's wheatear and eastern pied wheatear could be found. i was wondering if there is a way to tell between these two species. any help ?

Eastern Pied of the picata morph lacks a white cap. differences from Hume's include the greater extent of black on the breast, lesser extent of white on the rump and a less glossy appearnce, Hume's is also somewhat stockier and heavier billed but I find it hard to judge these features here.

Hi I think that your bird is a Hume's Wheatear Because with Eastern Pied the black tends to come further down the breast and on Hume's the white goes further up the back both of these I can see in your photo

Robs right, I misread your original, evidently having a 'doh' moment. However, I think, due to the demarcated throat eg not running onto the upperbreast judging by the twist toward camera is more indicative of Hume's. As Rob has stated, the other features are harder to judge from this image - have a look at these links

I would also identify this as Hume's on the Eastern Pied as has already been mentioned the black comes down the throat onto the chest well past the neck line
