Some kind of Thrush? Eastern Ontario, Canada (1 Viewer)

I have absolutely no idea what kind of bird this. It was about the size of an American Robin. Any help with an ID would be most appreciated.

Thanks very much, everyone. Had never even heard of a Veery before. So many birds to learn, so little time. |=)|

Hi again Gord,

I'm not sure if you're in Ottawa or elsewhere in Eastern Ontario, but this is a good reference for the birds that we have in the area. You'll note that the birds are grouped according to how easy it is to find them, from easiest birds (chickadee, crow) to more difficult birds (Philadelphia Vireo, Wilson's Warbler) to birds that we see in our region only rarely (Summer Tanager, Prothonotary Warbler).

Enjoy!

Thanks for the info, Gillian. It will be very useful, although after a 22 year association with Ottawa I just saw my first wood duck here a week ago and that chart says it's the second most easy to find bird in the area! |8.|

FYI, Ottawa is my home city and I spend a few months here each summer, but I travel most of the time otherwise (snowbird).
