Time spent wishing is time wasted!
Hi everyone!

Some of you may remember my name, but I had a thread on here when I was 14/15. I am now 21 and heading back to Bangor Uni next week to start a Masters degree...how time flies!

Anyway, I have recently been inspired to pick up where I left off, so have started a new Bird Art thread as I used to really enjoy it.

I'll start with a sketch I did today to try and remember the subtle differences between Ringed Plover and Semipalmated Plover.

It's good to be back!

Regards
Zac

Attended Spurn Migration Festival last weekend and was really impressed despite the general lack of birds.

The three birds that stood out for me were the ever present juvenile RBShrike, a self-found Rosefinch and 4 Black Terns which I always love to see

Hopefully I captured them all ok so the text above isn't required to tell what they are!

Can't get over how hard it is to capture the essence of gull species! I'm about half way through this Caspian Gull sketch.

Black-and-white Warbler in their characteristic un-warbler-like posture! Lovely little birds but this drawing makes me remember how much I hate feet! May start just drawing feet for a while!!

Did a few field sketches this morning of the roosting Redshank in Bangor harbour. Hard work stood up and in the rain, sheltered behind a tree!

Two of my favourite Winter birds! First birds I've drawn for a little as I've been drawing a present for my girlfriend, so that's taken priority

Great Snipe...started this when the Spurn bird was present, but got a little lost andstopped til today. Not amazingly happy, but it's remarkable how detailed their feathers are! Something I may not have noticed without drawing

White-necked Picathartes. What I believe to be the best bird in the world! Hopefully one day, I can field sketch this species!
