Shrike sp, Miyakejima, Japan. (1 Viewer)

mustap

Well-known member
Observed on Miyakejima island, from the parking area for the Nature Center at Tairo-ike on November 17, 2012.

Unfortunately it is a somewhat obscured photo, but the cap did not appear to be rufous (or at least not strongly rufous). Do brown shrike occur on Miyakejima?

Cheers,

Peeter

I agree with Smiths, despite it being a rather odd looking bird (in the image anyway) with no obvious rufous tones to the cap, the white base to the primaries is a good pointer.
