Bittell Reservoirs and Hopwood area (2 Viewers)

Remember there being a Scaup Face Tufted around a couple of years ago.....yes I saw the little tuft as well when I blew it up further......wish I had the bird at the time...I would have followed it and looked through my little scope.

Green Sandpiper on left shoreline of Lower today with a pair of Grey Wagtails on shore or in and around the reeds.

G.C.Grebes are trying their luck on the right side of Mill Shrub after an aborted try on the left when either the water rose or something pulled it apart.

I'd say LRP from what I saw, but if anyone's able to confirm it would be welcome.

Good to meet you, Keith.

2 Oystercatchers...one flew off to Upper and Josh picked the other on up on the far shore.
5 Little Ringed Plover...Josh again found No 5.

Info for anyone who would like to know....
UPPER...
2 Osprey flew over on Tuesday...one at 2.30 and other at 3.55 from Graham Fellows on Worcester Birding....
and...
One Osprey flew over at 8.10 am today from Clive Lea on Worcester Birding.

Mystery Raptor

So glad you posted news about ospreys in the area on Tuesday afternoon. Thought I was losing my mind. I was playing golf at the Lickey Hills on Tuesday afternoon when at about 3.15 a huge raptor flapped its way down the 10th fairway. As it approached I expected to see a forked tail which would have identified it as a red kite but no forked tail evident. As it flew over our heads it flew like a huge gull but without binoculars I couldn't make a positive identification. At the time I thought it must be a large peregrine but I was not convinced by this identification. An osprey would fit exactly the flight, colour and size of the bird I saw.

I had a birdie on the 5th...an Eagle on the 9th with an Albatross on the 15th...but never heard of an Osprey on any hole...ha ha ha ha...LOL

Glad you saw it Golfing Birder...brill ain't they.

4pm - small very mobile group of mixed hirundines over Lower, including at least Sand Martin and Swallow. For some reason, they seemed to be spending a lot of time in close proximity to a circling Buzzard.

Also Green Sandpiper briefly.

Green Sandpiper on left shore of Lower around 2pm. Returned at 4:30pm to find 2 little Ringed plovers, but no sign of the Sandpiper.

Saturday ...Lower...
Me and Josh were shadowing each other this afternoon - 2 visits at almost same times......I must have arrived 2nd time just after the OSPREY could have flew over Lower....have to try again another day.

The Green sandpiper was there 2nd visit but went just as Josh arrived and he missed it but once again he sussed out the L.R.Plovers for us....how he spotted them defeats me...lol

I have only ever seen Pied Wagtail once here as its basically water but now its almost dry there were loads flitting around.

Also a 1st for me here was a Reed Bunting ..a female in the trees by the road.

Pics 1 and 2...spot the 2 Little Ringed Plovers.....
