Kate Humble Leaving Springwatch (2 Viewers)

Hear hear. I think is that while people complain that it's not high-brow enough it does a cracking job of showing the general populace what wildlife we've got in the UK and maybe encourages them to care a little more about it. If it was more technical then I'm sure that far fewer people would watch.

I quite like that it's not overly detailed or specialist and doesn't take itself 'too' seriously, it's something enjoyable and relaxing to watch in the evening. Remember too that it could be far, far worse... imagine if Springwatch was to wildlife watching as the Gadget Show is to technology! Celebrities running around on Segways counting 'seagulls'? :eek!:

Why is Martin HG in it when they could have Nick Baker? I did not mind Kate Humble. I found Michaela pretty boring on Autumnwatch. She lacks Kate's screen presence.

This post sums it up for me as well.

I like her presentation manner and light hearted approach. Whichever way its all down to personal preferences with presenters, I don't like CP presentation manner whilst many do. She is a loss to the program. I shall carry on recording it and selecting what I want too watch, that way it doesn't frustrate me.

Have to be honest as a wildlife presenter she is too gushy and often comes out with stupid quips. The other presenters have more of a grasp on whats happening

Get Nick Baker and wake up the competitive streak in Chris. The guest appearance he made was excellent, as a double act I reckon they would be awesome.

Totty is not essential (heresy!)

John

Chris Packham and Nick Baker ARE totty! (and know their wildlife which is a huge bonus).

Watched Rugged wales last night and thought Iolo Williams was brilliant
I watched that too and, although I thought Iolo was quite good, I felt the programme itself was a complete mess. It seemed like ten programmes packed into one with no theme or sense of purpose. It darted around the country without giving sufficient time to each location. They also couldn't resist 'sexing it up' by including shots of Iolo abseiling, then caving, then jumping off cliffs, then sitting in a coracle, etc. I was exhausted by the end of the programme. ;)

Oh, and I will miss Kate - a bit.

I'm sure I had seen some if not all of this program before - especially the lapwings and canoeing. Was it a repeat or an amalgamation of previously shown material?

Phil

Didn't surprise me too much as she is more involved doing farm & science type programmes. That's all the orginal presenters gone Bill, Simon now Kate.

I have to say i will miss Kate Humble. Maybe she wants to expand do other programmes away from the normal Format that she wants to do with the Volcano programme

Michaela is still shown doing her 'older' wildlife shows (Michaela's Wildlife Challenge) on Channel 5 early in the morning along with Wildlife SOS. She appears with Ellie Harrison (Countryfile/Country Tracks) and Jamie Crawford (what has happened to him now)

'Michaela Wild Challenge'... Michaela is shown doing her thing for the younger audience, but it is still educational even for adults ;)

But Bill is coming back with the odd guest appearance - hurrah!

Hi PYRTLE

I agree, I think that Bill Oddie is starting to make a 'TV' reappearance even though it is not wildlife programmes (at the moment)

Recently, Bill appeared on a cookery programme on the TV.. along with another member of The Goodies.

He will work his way to the wildlife side of things sooner or later - and we will see what he has planned.

Regards
Kathy
