this bird is full sized, carved out of jelutong wood..berries also wood, rest is mixed media...painted with acrylic paints...mark..

Another astonishing piece, Mark - nothing but admiration for your ability. And - gels nicely with the discussion on Katrina's thread regarding balance and leg position v leg/body strength. No weight issues involved here (in the real bird) per se - but the proportionate strength is still considerable. Beautiful and enlightening piece.
 
Beautifully done Mark. That's a great pose, it looks like quite a challenge to pull off something like that.

What material do you use for the plant leafs? Very natural looking!

Thanks....sometimes i will use , copper, wood if it allows... these are done from
clear plastic, same, as used for milk cartons (everyday plastics)...if these are sanded both sides, then the acrylic paint won't come off.. then use a low heat on hot air gun to shape...mark.
