Apologies for the poor photograph. It was taken off Bournemouth pier a couple of years ago. Any ideas anyone?

Looks like a Guillemot with the light hitting the head oddly. What were you thinking of?

Agree with Steve, unless it's that b****y penguin again. It's been blogging around the south for a year or two ;)

Is this a trick question? The general consensus seems to be Guillemot. It is'nt an oiled gull or a ferall pigeon trying to catch us out?
 
Ok everybody. I'll settle for Guillemot. Thanks.

It just looked a bit odd to me but then I'm not very experienced at sea birds. If I had seen it on a rock instead of floating on the water I may have identified it a bit easier!
