Word 2000 document to Excel 97 Spreadsheet (1 Viewer)

When I cut or copy a Word document then try to paste it to an Excel spreadsheet it doesn't work. I get a small icon in the first cell on the spreadsheet. Thanks for any help.

Oh gosh - it's ages since I tried to do something like that.

hmm I think you probably need to create a text box first, then paste into that.

Difficult without knowing exactly what you're trying to do though.

Hope this helps

Thanks Delia. I'm trying to paste the BOU checklist into a spreadsheet.

hmm I don't have Excel at home but use Open Office (free download)

I can copy and paste direct from the BOU website directly into a spreadsheet and from a document to the sheet. Each bird is given it's own line.

I'm certain this works in exactly the same way with Excel

Can you explain how you are trying to do it?

I copy the checklist file from My Documents where it is saved from the BOU web site. I then open Excel and try to paste it to a new worksheet.

Try doing it direct from the BOU site:

Click to the left of the first bird, hold down the mouse and drag right down to the last one.

Right click anywhere in the highlighted area and select copy.

In your spreadsheet, click into the top left cell, right click and select paste.

That is all I have done - I can only think you are doing something different:stuck:
