My birds and mammals 2011 - big year (2 Viewers)

Been too busy to get out birding lately but fall migration is in full swing, maybe I can get myself a Golden-winged Warbler or something before it's too late. Might be going out to Oklahoma City this weekend, and checking the local listserv I see there are some good shorebird possibilities at the moment.

So nothing new on the bird front, but I did finally get a Virginia Opossum last night (mammal # 112).

Whimbrel
Herring Gull
Sandwich Tern

I'm not sure about the American side of the Atlantic but over here Whimbrel is now Eurasian and Hudsonian, Herring Gull is Eurasian and American and Sandwich Tern is Sandwich and Cabot's so theres a chance of a couple more on your list ;)

Wow I can't keep up with all these changes! So now we have Hudsonian Whimbrel? Well anyways I didn't see the Eurasian versions of any of these... well not yet anyway... where is Cabot's Tern found?

Cabot's is the new world form (and would also include Cayenne). Sandwich is restricted to the old world. IOC has adopted the Herring Gull and Tern split, but not the Whimbrel split. I think it is quite likely that the Cabot Tern might eventually be re-lumped, but both forms are not difficult to stockpile

New mammal addition!

113. North American River Otter

Two seen this weekend during a canoe/camping trip on the Buffalo River here in Arkansas.

1232. Bay-breasted Warbler (new for my FL list!)
