Bittell Reservoirs and Hopwood area (1 Viewer)

Just as I was leaving someone turned up so I got out of car to let him know about the Egret......he said he knew as he had had a text......it had been spotted earlier.
Wonder if they had seen it on here - if not then instead of texting mates let us all know......RANT OVER....for now.....lol

Finally got a winter thrush to pose ...and it was my 1st Fieldfare as well.

Egret still on Mill Shrub around 1.30.....hiding in low trees on opposite side of path gate and further down pool.Angler in boat by gate so he did not come out into a better place. Dont know where it feeds...Mill Shrub seems too deep but seen it around the river area.

Egret still here in tree watching 30 ish B.H.Gulls on water scattering as the 8 Swan family fly length of Shrub Mill over the road ...around Lower then land in the middle of them...
Awesome sight as the Swans went over my head
..twice.

Edit.....apparently been seen feeding on upper......

BHGulls up to over 50 on Shrub Mill today.
Egret took to the bench to watch them squabble.

On the Arrow I watched from the road for about 1/2 and hour as something was making the water ripple a lot....never saw what it was but hope it was Water Vole. While doing this a Kingfisher came from under the road and perched quite close until it saw me against the sky and flew off along the river and out of site.

I returned about an hour later and stood in same place and the Kingfisher was perched out of sight below me but must have heard me as it flew down stream again...this time perching about 1/2 way along.....think its the male again.

The Swan family did the fly past again - this time going off towards Upper after 2 laps.

Saw the smallest Thrush ever at the pools as well as this white Fungi.....

Thought Egret had gone yesterday as couldn't find it on my visits but it's back in the usual tree on Mill Shrub now.
Very quite everywhere....just the usual Kingfisher dashing about.

After a lot of searching I met up with the EGRETS in the tangle of trees right at the end of Mill Shrub......both were preening but one by one they flew even further into the trees before one went down onto the stream for a look around before returning to the trees.

Bittell Reservoir

Quick walk around Bittell this morning. No sign of Egret after a brief stop, but Upper showed a pair of goosander at around 11am

Hi Josh....there was one Egret on its usual tree at end of pool about noon....only had time to park up and look...lol....great that Goosanders are around.
