Is the Shikra a Besra ?

Hi,
The bird included as a Shikra (accipiter badius )in the database:
http://www.birdforum.net/bird_view.php?bid=7489
appears to be a Besra (Accipiter virgatus ) based the prominent gular stripe, bold rufous streaked breast and overall jizz.
Needs to be checked out, I think.

Cheers !

surely a Besra Sumit

too dark in general and thick barring, bold gular stripe.
the presence of streaking above the barring is not present on Shikra either.

Thanks Tim, thought as much when I accidentally came across the image.

Request the Moderators to fix the entry. Good bird to get for the database by accident, not too many identifiable images of a Besra around.

yes Sumit

must be a hard bird to get on film I imagine. Saw one in the forest in Sri Lanka recently - had extended views of it quite close but it was way to dark to get a pic with my coolpix.
