Sharpen More

I tried this in PS7 and was surprised how well it sharpened, it does seem a bit aggresive, sometimes noticeably over-sharpening but worth a try for a quick idea of what can be got out of an image.

Does anyone know how this works, is it a fixed Amount/Radius/Threshhold or is there any 'smart sharpening' used?

Hi

Just joined birdforum having finally given in to the wife's hobby and bought some long lenses :), so dont know much about birds (yet) but do know a bit about PS.

The sharpen filter simply lightens and darkens a single pixel boundary according to some fixed threshhold (difference between pixel values). The sharpen more does the same thing but, as you say, much more aggresively.

I tend to use high pass sharpening for most of my stuff and generally prefer it to usm.

Regards, Roman

I think that everyone who enoys wildlife photography should learn to use High Pass for sharpening. I have only just learnt and mastered the technique, I wish I had bothered ages ago. Once you get the hang of it, it is just so quick, easy, selective and accurate.
