Hi Phil

I've had an Aspire 5050 for about 3 years now and have had no trouble with it at all.

EDIT: Perhaps I should touch wood

Thanks for that Delia, just read a review which said that Acers after sales service isn't up to much!

Regards, Phil.

I have had an Acer Aspire 5720 for over 2 years and have had no trouble whatsoever. They are budget machines but you do get a lot for the money which makes them very tempting. As far as after sales is concerned I cannot comment as I have never had to use it. Personally I am always wary of this type of bad press on the basis that people are quick to complain when they have a problem but few bother to comment when they receive good service, thereby providing a biased view. I only observe reviews from independent sources with no axe to grind.

One last point - The Acer Aspire 5536 is the PC Pro magazine A-List machine in the best value laptop category.

Best of luck

I've been using an Acer Aspire 5735 for the last 6 months or so and haven't had any problems. Like Delia, I've not had to use the after sales service either (long may it continue).

I hope that these are good laptops as I've just bought one for my wife. I'm sure it will be as I've taken advice and read reviews, etc. :)

My wife has had one for 3 years or so and never had any problems with it. I'm not sure about battery life as she always has it connected to the mains. Its a Travelmate and the reason she bought it was because of the favourable comments from freinds and workmates who own Acers.

I've got an Acer Aspire 5100. I think... right now I don't have it here bacause it's at the repair shop... AGAIN! I don't like it, it's started acting up after about a year or so, and this is the second time in two years it's at the repair shop. I've never had another computer that I've had so much trouble with. Then, it could be just my computer, they said at the repair shop when I asked about which brands are best and so that it doesn't really matter, you have to have a certain amount of luck as well when buying.
