It's a pretty good atmospheric shot though ....not a bird photo at all in that sense.

Should have a Golden Eagle or something in it like one of those Tunnicliffe/Thorburne paintings....

Anyways, size probably way out.... Wren??

Edit: or maybe a Stonechat then lol

not a stonechat..

this bird is about twice as big i'd guess

i've purposely left out the location as it would make it too easy otherwise, but i do take my mobile phone with me when i go on holiday

ok

maybe this is too hard!

a couple of "clues"...

the species involved does not occur in europe

if you can identify the habitat then you'll be well on the way to getting the bird

none of the above!

this photo was taken in peru as various people have deduced..

attachment is a slightly higher resolution crop of the mystery bird

take particular note of any resemblance to well-known toys

I think my toy identification is worse than my bird identification

PS never been to Peru, so probably don't know it anyhow.

I can only find one that occurs over 4000 m, in Polylepis woodland – I assume that's the one?

Stripe-headed is the bird I mean. I can't even recognise the Polylepis, but then I haven't been to Peru (yet).
