Late report here - Barn Owl spotted on friday night about 6.15pm - Ferryboat Lane at North Hylton, as the road goes down towards the Shipwrights pub just beside the dog kennels.

Bird flew over road from river side into farmers field and settled in the lower branches of one of the large trees about 30 yards from the road.

I have been going down here every day for the past 18 months (our horses are stabled beside here) and this is the first time I have seen the owl in this area.

Always a nice surprise.
Hope you see it again soon & it keeps clear of that A19 . . .
(Theres a breeding pair a little over 2,000metres away from your sighting.)

Absolute quality, Adam. I’ve dabbled in watercolours myself once or twice over the years, but never achieved results like yours.

Well done mate

Cheers, Dougie

Hi Folks,
Had the pleasure of seeing 2 Foxes early this morning - a brief encounter as they crossed the road in front of my car - quite close to home as well

Cheers, Dougie.

I've never used oils at all Adam, do you find them better to work with than watercolours?

Just picking your brains mate, hope you don't mind

Cheers, Dougie.

Cheers, Dougie.

I dont mind at all mate i do find oils a bit easier especially if you make a mistake but it is more messy than watercolour and takes a long time to dry.
I havent used watercolours since i first used oils so i guess i must prefer them. I just bought the cheapest set of paints and cheapest canvas i could get to give them a try this only cost a few pounds in total so its maybe worth trying if you fancy it.

I'll post some more pic's once i take some photo's of them.
