I did a quick comparison between the 7D and my 1D MkIII working at iso 800 in poor light and testing the 7d for extra reach versus the 1D and I reported it on this site. The conclusion was the 7D couldn't match the 1D for image quality so it went back to the shop. I'll try and find the images to post. For those thinking of upgrading from 40D, 50D or similar I think it's worth it for improved noise at higher iso and really good autofocussing.

That will be the 60d then

I reckon the 60D could be 24mp with bad noise at ISO 100 the way things are going

I always remember when I first came on the forum, regarding equipment its not your tools its how good you are at taking pictures, you know the box brownie bit, maybe everyone is asking to much from the cameras. Just use them and enjoy them.

EDIT That reminds me got to stop playing with my Jag and get out and take some pics

Wise words, Terry - perhaps too much "Anorakism" prevails. As the Actress said to the Bishop "It ain't wot you got, it's wot you do with it that counts!"

You are right Roy, but I do like a new camera, cant wait for the 8d to come out, what will it have on it, triple digi thingies 24 mil pix, fold out screen 30 focus points, very slow motion video, etc etc,

But theres one thing you can say, I have never moaned about what a camera can supposedly do, I have asked the daft questions,

Roy stop looking back on all my posts to see if I have moaned

I have better things to do with my time than that, that's for sure. Been out this morning and took several hundred shots with my useless, out of date, noisy, crappy focussing dinosaur 40D - just think what i could have done with a 7D
In defence of the Camera it was taken with a 2x tc.

I know what you mean Marcus, I just worked out that since buying a 300D in March 2005 I have bought, used and then sold on 10 DSLRs! I am a sucker for a new toy and find them very hard to resist....

Very nice shot of the grey phal Roy, makes me wish I was out birding.

That's a fantastic shot Roy. I don't think you qualify for a new camera now that you've shown what great pics the 40D can take.

Nor me. And there's a grey one down in Sussex - just as I'm stuck up here in Loghborough for the week.
