Good supporting cast with Stonechat, Kes & Bullfinch

Is the bird set for the winter then? Staines is the new S-Asia!
Not bad photo's from your scope/mobile setup. I often use this with reasonable results just a shame I didn't get them when I was there during the week. Never mind if it's still around on Tuesday I'll try and call in again as I'll be passing around lunch time.

Saturday morning was great - very obliging bird! Thanks for the tip on wellies - almost impassable without I would say - pity the poor lad who was wading through in a nice pair of Adidas Gazelles as we left.............!

Also 2 Water Pipits, 2 Stonechats, 2 Kingfishers on the railings over the river, Jack Snipe flushed from the pool on the middle (behind the crowd), Greenpeckers etc

Those central boggy areas look great for Snipe etc, but we only flushed the one Jack.

I managed to see it again this morning along with a Water Pipit and Cetti's Warbler thanks to Bob who pointed me and 2 birders from the Derby area in the right direction.

Going down to that London on business tomorrow, so at last an excuse to swing by for this bird. Any updates on access or areas to avoid? (Wellies already packed.)

Well, I see it's still there this morning, and I'm leaving Devon mid-morning tomorrow for Heathrow. I hope to drop in to the site mid-afternoon for a recce, and if I don't see it, return Sunday morning after I've dropped off my passenger at Terminal 5. Any sightings early would spur me on to get there before the light fails, which I guess must be around 4p.m.?

Yours in hope

Jon

I'm guessing 4 pm would be a bit late in the day to try (early in October it disappeared around 6 pm (5 pm GMT) on sunny days (which we've had all week), and about 2 hours earlier on grey ones).
