Museum specimen ID help

Trying to see if I can post some photos of specimens in our museum for some confirmation on their ID.

The "oriole" is labled: Girand Hangnest

The parrot: Large Green Brown-crested Parrot

The third: Red-breasted Lark

Thanks,

Peter

#1 Looks like Yellow-backed Oriole Icterus chrysater

Any labeling to indicate where they were collected?

No, this is one of my problems, since I do not know where they were collected, I can't narrow down my search very well.

How about the parrot: The name was a description, not a name. I run into this a fair bit and considering many of our specimens were collected in the mid-1800's, not surprising. It shows faded yellow(?) feathers on the forehead/crown, a bir of red showning in the closed wing, the primaries appear to be blue, the rest of the bird green. About 28 cm- can't guess how much it shrunk over the years.

I agree #1 does look like a yellow-backed Oriole.

Peter sorry I couldn't be there to help lately, I am available Friday though. I can come in after I go birding for a little in the morning?

No. 1 is Giraud’s Oriole ie a subspecies of Yellow-backed Oriole. Icterus chrysater giraudii Cassin 1848 Proc.Acad.Nat.Sci.Philadelphia 3["1847"] no.12 p.333 Hangnest is a common name for an Oriole. Could this be the Type?

I'd expect the type to have more on the label.

I agree with IDs for the oriole thrush-tanager. As for the parrot, I'm not sure but likely a faded, shrunken Mealy Parrot.

Yes, there "should" be more information, but these birds mostly do not have tags and where the data originally came from that I do have (on a card catalog) I do not know. We have some very interesting specimens, apparently traded with other museums in Philadelphia and New York City, some from the french collector, Rivoli.
My goal is to confirm every specimen and then properly label them with any data that we do have. Makes for fun days!
