Gadgets Insurance
Hi there
Just delete this if it has been covered already. Have I missed out on something here, or have I had my head buried in the sand somewhere in this life LOL   I noted an advert for insuring 'gadgets' today. Gadgets such as mobiles, i-pods, Camera's etc... http://www.insurance4gadgets.co.uk/h...rance-policies Is this new 'trend' on the market that we pay for our 'small techy' products away from our house insurance? Pay them on their own with a separate policy? How does this 'system' work? Regards Kathy x

All our optics, cameras,scope etc etc are on our home insurance as named items I think it cost about another £30-40 for the year. Before you ring to ask write all your cameras scope lens etc down with a price for them you will be amazed how it mounts up.

Occasional bird snapper

I have all my Camera gear covered on my home insurance as well - it even covered it in Spain last year. On my policy it is automatically covered without having to name it but some policies you have to make it named items like Marmot says. Either way it will probably be better/cheaper than using a separate specialist insurer.

My house and contents insurance covers me up to £1,000 for equipment away from home. As stated above separate insurance is good only for the insurance companies.

I have my under home and contents.
In the small print I noticed that I am not covered if the items are inside a car that is stolen (but are covered in the boot of the car if the car is not stolen) |
