Wader on Viginia Beach, VA

My sister has been on holiday to USA & took this pic.
She asked me what it was.
I don't know.
Can someone ID it for us , please.

Looks like a Sanderling. You're probably better to put any ID enquiries into the ID forum.

Cheers waslooking at Sibley & couldn't find anything but in my Collins I'd say it was a juv Sanderling.
I can see why people don't like Sibley's North American Bird Guide now.

It's the most popular guide in the states now among hardcore birders, so the majority of birders here most definitely like it (though of course no guide is universally liked by anyone). It also most definitely illustrates Sanderlings.

Best,
Jim

Sorry what I meant was the Sanderling pics in Sibley look nothing like this bird in the photo where as I think the Collins one of a Juv looks more like the photo posted above.
The neck ring is better illustrated in Collins, it's very faint in Sibley, that's why I overlooked it.

Smile Sanderlings

I would say it was a Sanderling, but I am no where close to being a expert of any kind. I watch them by the hour on my walks when we camp at Assateague National Seashore.
