Thumbs up Pentax 8x32 ED

My UPS guy just delivered my Pentax 8x32 ED binoculars that I ordered for their close focus of a little over 4ft , 60° AFOV and great Pentax ED optics. I just compared them to my 8x42 Pentax DCF WP roofs and 7x42 Zeiss FLs under dim grey clouds with light rain and they are just as bright as my 8x42 DCF WPs but not as bright as my Zeiss 7x42 FLs . I knew they would not be as bright as the 7x42s since they are one of the brightest ultra premium out there but I am happy that they are just as bright as my 8x42 DCF WPs. The color and sharpness look just as good as the Zeiss handheld just eyeballing the view of birds, flowers etc. They are a nice small binocular that won't take up much room in a backpack etc. I also have four Canon IS binoculars (8x25 IS,10x42L,12x36 IS II, 15x50 IS) that I use for higher power handheld.

Looks very nice! I've been thinking of getting one as well.

Do you know where they seem to be made?

Thanks,

Enjoy the new Pentax EDs! I agree they are great.

My "significant other" is using the Pentax 8X43 ED and we compare it to the Leica Ultravid HD 10X42 all the time.

After owning both for a few years - both still deliver top performance. Of course you would expect that from the Leica Ultravid HD at that price.

The Pentax is significanlty less expensive than the Ultravid but not an inexpensive binocular. But it delivers top quality from what my eyes see. Seems like Pentax delivers better quality control than some of the new Asian glass.

The pair we have is made in Japan.

They are definalty worth a field test. If they came in a 10X32 I would rush out and buy a pair. I have called Pentax a number of times requesting this binocular in a 10x32 - so far I have had no luck!
