Bats

Has anyone any experience, using the American model phototrap? And also is there an equivalent on the Market over here. I tried to get some photos of bats in flight in my garden the other night with dismal results, but lots of fun and frustration to boot, any ideas or constructive thoughts please, kind regards. Mike

Hi again, I have spent couple of evenings this week trying to observe bats, mainly in grey well near the tunnel. i was there between 9.15pm and 1030ish. I was quite disappointed this area is supposed to have a fairly large population? However on two evenings the first evening was overcast and a bit showery I only saw 3 bats. Last night was better I managed 8 but the weather was better? Do you know if they hunt if it's rainy weather? I need to maybe purchase a book on bats, any advice. Sorry for the questions but I am very new to batting. Kind regards. Mike

There's 2 book that I usually recommend..

for british bats "British Bats" by John Altringham

http://www.newnaturalists.com/titles...-9780007308682

or for bats in general

Handbook of the Bats of Europe and Northwest Africa (search amazon)
