Amazing spider and 2 grasshopper sp from The Camargue

Any help with these three critters. The spider was truly magnificent found in deciduous woodland where the thin grasshopper/cricket was found. Large locust type grasshopper in agricultural fields near Albaron, The Camargue
Thanks in advance
Jono

I think the spider is Argiope lobata, (thus a close relative of the wasp spider found in the UK)

Last one is one of the Coneheads I'd think. Presumably Long-winged (Conocephalus discolor), although this is a male so I wouldn't know how to exclude macrypterous Short-winged Conehead.

It doesn't look like either of those species to me, but can't suggest anything else.

You're right. Didn't look nearly closely enough. Try Paracinema tricolor.

Jono,

The Agriope Lobata is stunning - I'm visiting the camargue area soon - is the wood accessable? Was the spider in long grass (Wasp Spiders usual habo of choice)?

Cheers,
Matt

Superb little habitat: If you're flying to Nimes airport then come out of the arrivals door and turn right (heading to the Navette bus that takes you to Nimes station) keep following the road to the 1st roundabout and take the first turning. Signposted loads of Chateau, one being St. Benezet (or similar spelling). Go passed the helicopter offices with a chopper outside and there is a load of rough ground on your right. Spider and grasshoppers were here along with pied flycatcher, orphean warbler, red kite. Spider was on web above long grass in a small thorn bush. Plenty of bramble scrub here, too. I only had a short time here, but well worth a wander whilst waiting for the plane on return journey. If you walk further along this road it becomes an unmade track with superb hedgerow birds and plenty of butterflies. If you need anymore info on The Camargue, PM me. I have been there loads of times.
