Rare PIF 10X50 available from my collection
Pentax SMC 10x50 PIF binoculars were the Pentax top of the line offering when introduced a few years ago and you must spend $1500-$2000 to buy comparable quality IF marine binoculars today. In fact, the msrp was around $1200 when i bought them and i still have the sale printout where i bought them for $979. They were designed with the marine environment as well as astronomy in mind and i have read that they were/are actually used by Australian and Japanese military/naval forces. These binoculars were engineered with high resolution, flat-field optical lens components that were designed to compensate for the curvature of field to give the highest resolution images from the center all the way out to the edges of the viewing field. This means that stars viewed at the edge of the field will be just as sharp as the stars at the center of the image. These are "individual eyepiece focus" type binoculars instead of "center focus". That means that you focus each eyepiece for your eyes and then there is no future adjustment necessary. This focus system eliminated the need to constantly roll the adjustment wheel back and forth looking for the sharpest focus. The expensive process of applying Super-Multi-Coating (SMC) to all of the lens components guarantees that the viewed images will benefit from the highest light transmission for the brightest and sharpest images that are possible. Certified waterproof to 5 meter-deep-water equivalent hydraulic pressure, these unsurpassed marine binoculars are filled with nitrogen gas before being sealed air tight. These binoculars have the sharpest and best colored image quality of any binoculars i own and are as good as any ED binoculars that i have compared them to. I have obtained hundreds of pairs of binoculars over a lifetime of collecting and am now liquidating most of my collection. These Pentax PIF's are at the very top of the list in my experience when it comes to image quality. If you require the absolute best image available for astronomy or a pair of top of the line marine binoculars for your yacht, then these are as good as it gets. They are in excellent condition and the glass, rubberized body and lens coatings are in pristine condition. The soft case, all four eyepiece covers, the lens cleaning cloth, and the original owners manual are of course included. These are as close to new and unused as you will find and they have never been in a marine (salty) environment, nor have they ever been in a damp environment. These were only used a handful of times for long range wildlife observation and were kept in a case since brand new. I am asking $450 plus actual shipping which is less than half what i paid for them. Look over the images and contact me if you have further questions at c1306@siu.edu or 618-549-1584. Thanks, Kerry

Try selling this on Astromart or Cloudy Nights. I liked the Fuji 10x50 FMTR-SX and would no doubt like this.

If I'm not mistaken Kerry sold it on eBay for somewhat less than he listed it here.

Hi Bob, Thanks, I didn't try a search on Ebay for these. I would like to have the 10 but don't want to spend the money.
