I havent seen them mentioned in some time but from what I remember they are often suggested as one of better buys in their respective price range. The other obvious choice would be the leupold yosemite or even the celestron nature if u dont mind a smaller objective lens.

Are you sure you want a 10x? I ask this because there is a very good ex-demo pair od Opticron SRGA 8x42s which normally sell for about £200.

Note these are not waterproof and the eye relief I think will be a little short for glasses. The quality of the view is really excellent.

I think a couple of steps up from the Natureview is the Legend. They have a 10x50 and an 8x42 here well within budget. Again watch out if you wear glasses.

The Nikon Action EX is very well regarded, waterproof and should be fine with glasses. They do an 8x40 and a 10x50:

Hope this helps.

In addition to the Nikons and Bushnell you might also consider the Orion Ultraview 10x50. Great optical performance for the price but not waterproof.

There is a pair of Hawke ED 8x36 open bridge, for 175 pounds,I think, USED MINT ,for sale in the UK..that should be a very good binocular for the price. I have used the Bushnell natureview 10X in the past, and they are very good, but these ED are probably even better, and also more durable and compact. I have owned the ZEN ED7x36 based in the same design than the Hawke and they are very good

I had the 10x42 'natureview plus' and thought they were just awful for all round birding, almost unusable compared to the brightness and sharpness of the very much cheaper Celestron nature 8x30's. I love those things, they are quite possibly sharper and more contrasty than my Zen ED2 7x36's. I highly recommend them, though they do suffer from a lot of glare and the focus is very stiff.
Will be interesting to compare them to the Nikon SE 8x32's, they should be arriving this morning!

The Bushnell H20 8x40's from Amazon at £58 are a real bargain at the moment. I've used them for the last 2 years and can't fault them. Here

Have a look at the classifieds section on BF for the Hawke Frontier ED 8x36 that Mayoayo recommends. I'm trying to talk myself out of buying them.

I'm not sure about the 8x36 model, hopefully it's better than its bigger brother. I tried the 8x42 ED, two samples in fact, and didn't like them.

There was something very disturbing about the image. I couldn't "hold it". The image also seemed dimmer than the non-ED Frontier, though I didn't like the open bridge on that model since there was an "overhang" at the top, which ate up finger room inside the open space.

The ER on the ED model was low and the bin itself was too long so it was a bit awkward to hold like the Promaster Infinity Lexus Acura LX. The latter issue should not be a problem on the 8x36 model.

An 8x36 that I can recommend is the Pentax 8x36 NV. Good bang for the buck. $144 on eBay.

Sorry for the delay. I eventually bought the bushnell 10 x40 natureview with roof prism online for £99 , all in. I'm not new to birdwatching, but have recently gotten back into it and thought i'd update my prehistoric kit!
The right ups on this model is very good, although I do appreciate all of your informative recommendations. Thanks again for your invaluable help. Lee.
