Possible bird ring?
Hi,
I found this with my metal detector today in central Scotland. Thought it might be a birds and may be of interest to you. Might you be able to ID it? There was nothing else near it, no bones, it was about 4" down on a pasture field. Ive sat it on a pound coin to indicate size. thanks, http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ny_bot/2-4.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d1...ny_bot/1-4.jpg |

It is a bird ring but i think its probably from a racing Pigeon rather than a wild bird.

Adam is right - the SU99 I believe denotes the a bird ringed from the Scottish Homing Union.

No wonder that there were no bones around. Referring to their website the pigeon was born in 1999, that´s a lot of time for decaying.
