South Walney Nature Reserve

Hi,

Can't believe there's not already a thread dedicated to Walney!

Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows the best areas for seeing the twite and the brent geese?

I'm planning a trip out there tomorrow and hoping the long-tailed duck is still hanging around too. Missed it last time I was there but did find a rather nice glaucous gull.

If anyone hasn't seen it here's a link to Walney's blog:

http://walneybo.blogspot.com/

And the Cumbria Wildlife Trust Page:

Thanks for the reply!

Caught up with the brent geese straight away. They were hanging around on the shoreline just before the caravan park.

Finally saw the long-tailed duck, it was out of the water (which surprised me) next to the oyster pools. Female scaup was still there as well. Good numbers of greenshank and a snipe were also around the pools.

No luck with the twite though. Next time....
