I do know that this is a blackbird.. but ...is it a red-winged??? Photo was taken in October 2011. It just doesn't have the markings I am use to seeing on that species here in Saskatchewan! Help! Thanks, Andrea

It's a juvenile Red-winged Blackbird.

Agree juv red-winged..Tough angle bird gave you Andrea.
Because of generally dark iris,proportion of bill.Not sure if even
margin of epaulette would show at that angle.Often indistinct in
juv's.

I can see RW Blackbird in this shot, especially, around the bill, but the brown on the head in both pictures has me thinking Brown Headed Cowbird.

Definitely a young male Red-winged Blackbird--cowbirds have much thicker bills. The brownish head is just a sign of youth
