Argentinian Moths

No Friends,
Unfortunately I am not just back from a trip to Argentina (where I have been in the past and would love to return!), but a friend who lives there photographed these two sweeties at Capillo del Monte last week, and wonders if anyone could help us ID them?
I tried googling Argentine moths but neither of these appeared.
Any help about where to look would also be appreciated.
Just struggling into Spring here in Budapest, but still pretty
cold at night.
best

Davud

Hi David

The best I can do for the first is a species of Hypercompe Hübner, [1819] - a difficult genus of arctiids with many similar-looking species in need of revision.

The second is Dysschema sacrifica (Hübner, [1831]) (Arctiidae: Pericopinae, as was).

Best wishes

Martin

Thank you so much, Martin

Hope all is well - just heard from Nick Riddiford up on the Isle with his latest Marine work.

Best

Hi David

You're welcome.

I meet up with Nick in a month's time in the Balearics - unless I see him on his way through London.

Best wishes

Martin
