Leica Silverline 10X25
I got a pair of Leica Silverline 10X25 last week.
I found that its optics is identical to Leica ultravid. The only differnece is its appearance. The User's Guide is also titled "LEICA ULTRAVID 8X20 BR/BL LEICA ULTRAVID 10X25 BR/BL" I bought it from a lucky man who got it by good chance. But he didin't have 8X20 which I want most. Just for reference. |

That's what we were led to believe, thanks for the confirmation. Here, the binocular has crossed the line into fashion accessory territory. Nothing wrong with a little bling, as long as the optics are killer!

I like 8x20, too. Leica's price is crazy in mainland china.

First a Frenchman, and now two new members from Taiwan and Shanghai!
We're finally getting some diversity on BF. Normally, it's just us Yanks and the Brits on the other side of the pond (who speak the same language, though sometimes you'd never know it :-), with an occasional guest appearance by horukuru from Borneo. RJM lives in Tokyo but he's as American as McDonald's fried apple pie. :-) Xu42 keeps coming up with these amazing (and expensive) alpha binoculars. I think some of us (me) are stuck with images of Old Shanghai and imagine elderly practicing Tai Chi on the Bund and women dressed in Cheongsams. Welcome aboard! Brock

I am one of the bino lovers in China and a lot people like me are in a Chinese bino forum. Unfortunately, because of the language problems, few of us visit here; and maybe none of you here know our existance. ![]() |

What a minute, didn't Canada become a U.S. territory under NAFTA? Or was it the other way around? :-) Except for French-speaking Canadians like Celene Dion, unless you stuck a "hey?" at the end of the every sentence, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference btwn a canuck and a Minnesotan, doncha ya know? Although a nation of Sarah Palins is a pretty scary prospect. :-) In fact, I've always thought that our greatest secret enemy might be Canada, because canucks could invade us w/out us even knowing. You would just blend in like in the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers". One by one, cannucks would replace Americans. The only clue would be that hockey would become our national sport. :-) After the invasion was complete, this is how the Canadian national anthem might sound: http://www.vevo.com/watch/classified...a/CABS21000002 Brock

Well, you are prepared for it right where you live what with that new Hockey Arena that was endowed upon Penn State by a grateful alumnus. Bob |

Collectors! There's a Leica 7x20 B compact for sale on Astromart. The ad just says "Excellent condition". No other details. Price is $150.

That price seems too good to be true for the compact Leicas....I might have to look into that! Anyone deal with/throughout Astromart that could provide some feedback? Thanks.

I have bought several used binoculars through Astromart, and have always been pleased with what I got. It costs $12 to join I think. It would be worth the fee for a good deal on one binocular.
Take note though, the 7x20 is individual focus. I am bit of a Leica fan but don't know anything about this binocular. It appears to be Trinovid era. The center focusing Trinovid compacts are not waterproof. It is likely that this individual focusing one is, but I don't actually know. Ron |

Two other binoculars sold by this person, no feedback. What is up with that? Buyer beware.

I did a search on this binocular, it seems, this is a binocular that Leica built under contract for Leupold, both the 7x20B, and 9x25. Surveyor had made the post. These were made at a lower price point, smaller sweet spot, and not as good as the Trinovid. Another tidbit I found said that with the overun production, Leica branded them, and sold them off. So maybe that is why these are slow to sell. Jerry |
